“It is not uncommon that people run after each other with nerf guns”
Ever wondered what it is like to work at TRIMM? A few of our employees (TRIMM’ers) will tell you about their experiences in a series of interviews. Today, it’s Andra Nijman's turn!
What is your job at TRIMM?
"I work at TRIMM’s Servicedesk. Customers who have a request or question come to the Servicedesk, so we create a ticket to handle this request or question. If possible, we handle the ticket ourselves, otherwise we assign the ticket to other employees within TRIMM. Besides my work for the Servicedesk, I also do content work for Philips, among other things."
What do you like about your job?
"I really like the variety in my work. I do a lot of different things: administration, billing, reporting, content management, customer communications, the list goes on and on. The work is very diverse. I have really nice colleagues, I think I have never worked at a company which had such nice colleagues. What I also like about TRIMM is that everybody had the freedom to bee themselves, you don’t have to fit a certain norm."
What distinguishes TRIMM from other employers?
"First of all, I think the openness of TRIMM is a really distinguishing factor. Financial reports of the individual teams are shared with everybody in a way that I have never seen in another company. I like to know when TRIMM is doing well or not. You feel more connected with the company. The other thing I think distinguishes TRIMM from other employers is that there is always room for silliness. People work hard when it is necessary, but if there’s time hell can break loose. It’s not uncommon that co-workers chase each other with nerf guns through the whole building while Nerf Darts are whizzing by."
What are the best memories you have of your time at TRIMM so far?
"Although I’m relatively new at TRIMM, some things are certainly more special than others. The Oktoberfest was one of the highlights for me. About half of the people who attended were wearing lederhosen or dirndls and everybody had a blast drinking beer. The annual Christmas Dinner was a highlight too. Everybody dressed up and everything was taken care of. There even was an ice cream car in the building! But everyday things like the interaction with my colleagues are highlights of my time at TRIMM."
What do you want to achieve?
"I would like to learn to code, I’d like to know more programming language. If I have more background knowledge, I can better understand tickets about this topic. TRIMM certainly gives me the opportunity to do that. I’d also like to do more graphic design, I’d like to be an allrounder. I have also joined TRIMM’s staff association: Connect. I also really like to organize events."
Can you tell us more about Connect?
"Connect is the staff association of TRIMM. We regularly organize activities to create connections between the people of TRIMM. At TRIMM you mostly work together with your teammates, but it's nice to get to know your other colleagues too. Connect's activities contribute to that. Our goal is to organise an event every two months, next to the weekly Friday afternoon drinks. The summer BBQ and the Christmas diner are yearly re-occuring activities. Other events we've taken care of are trips to dance festival Mysteryland, a poker tournament and several sports activities."
