TRIMM Hosts ICOM Global Network's First Virtual World Meeting

Looking back: 2021 at TRIMM

As we approach the final days of the year, we look back on a year full of challenges, new opportunities and great digital solutions. Curious about what this year has been like for us? Our Product Owner and Consultant Michiel will tell you all about it.

Working at home - going to the office - working at home - going to the office and again: working at home. It was an unpredictable year, how did you experience this from your role at TRIMM?

I think it was a year with a U-turn for everyone, but thanks to our flexibility, we can handle it well at TRIMM. I have been able to work with people very well virtually. With both customers and our business partners, such as Skybox and GriDD.

Many people have now been experiencing the power of digital/virtual for a long time. I expect that this will also give a strong push to the concept of the Metaverse that the various large FAAMG and BAT companies are working hard on.

You are a Consultant/Product Owner for some of our largest projects. Did you notice a difference in the cooperation with customers, now that this mainly took place digitally?

The great thing is that a lot is possible virtually, even cooperation with new customers and partners who I have never met before. This has not affected the speed of our projects, but I have noticed that more communication and documentation is needed to make things run smoothly.

What tips can you give around collaborating through online platforms?

Create consistent alignment moments via a specific channel, such as a weekly update or even daily check-ins with your team via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Don't avoid other channels for spontaneous contact moments. For example, I noticed that it worked very well to discuss short questions via Whatsapp.

Because of the virtual element, meetings do become very rational and substantive, leaving less room for social and interpersonal interaction. The importance of this should not be underestimated.
Take enough time for the personal element, also look around at your team and show interest in your colleagues and other people. Also outside the organisation you work with.

What were the project highlights for TRIMM this year?

We were able to complete many great projects for our customers again this year. The biggest project for me was the new website for Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials: MCAM.com.
But of course, we did much more than just develop websites or web portals. For example, we created a full digital strategy for Tejin Smart Safety and Trespa (for whom we also developed the new website). We also supported Grolsch in building modules for giveaways and developed a data strategy for De Jong & Laan.

Online and hybrid events were very important for TRIMM this year. We hosted events for SPAR, ICOM and DSM. And of course the FBK Games, of which we are not only a proud sponsor, but this year also offered the fans (despite COVID) a stadium experience at home through the Second Screen Event. Our biggest online event this year was Nexperia Power Live in September, a 3-day event with 13 live sessions, 17 on-demand demo videos and 36 speakers.

All in all, we not only did great projects in things we were already good at, but we also tried to respond to developments and trends as much as possible. With this we did many projects that enabled us to put TRIMM on the map in new areas.

You are very much involved in innovation in digital. What developments and trends has TRIMM been working on?

One development cannot be missed: the online and hybrid events we organised for our clients. Our video team has been working intensively on this throughout the year, and with great results! We were able to host cool events, and the video team has grown in this respect and gained a new specialisation.

Many clients also started working with data analysis and Marketing Automation. We developed data strategies, dashboards and used Marketing Automation more than ever in the overall marketing strategy of our clients. We have really noticed the growing importance of data inside and outside TRIMM.

What achievement of TRIMM in the past year are you most proud of?

I am very proud of our organisation and of all my colleagues. We have been able to achieve great things in this challenging time. We have shown that we can help our clients to become more successful in their business at all times.
